This DIY Standing Desk is made from a single 2” x 8” x 12’ and plumbers pipe.  The height of the desk can be adjusted by switching out different sections of pipe.  All of the materials for this standing desk can be purchased at Home Depot.


SUPPLY NAME: 1     2”x8”x12’ board

SUPPLY NAME: 6     10” mending plates

SUPPLY NAME: ¾” black steel pipes

8 @ 18”    4 @ 6”        1 @ 36”

SUPPLY NAME: ¾” black iron couplings

4 Flanges    4 Reducers @ 1”-¾”        6 Tees

SUPPLY NAME: 1 ¼” black drywall screws

TOOL NAME: Orbital sander

TOOL NAME: 18 Volt cordless drill

STEP 1: Sand all sides of the wood and soften the edges and corners

 
 

STEP 2: Wipe away all remaining sawdust

 
 

STEP 3: Apply one coat of Danish Oil

 
 

STEP 4: Assemble the legs from the pipes and couplings

 
 

STEP 5: Make sure the pipes are tightly fitted and right angled

 
 

STEP 6: mark where the legs will be so that you will know where to attach the mending plates

 
 

STEP 7: ATTACH TWO OF THE MENDING PLATES IN THE CENTER OF THE BOARDS AND SPACE THE REMAINING FOUR SO THAT THEY FLANK THE LEGS FOR MAXIMUM STABILITY

 
 

STEP 8: ATTACH THE LEGS AND ENJOY
